January 30th was Foster Grandparent Day at Paddock Elementary School and it was such a wonderful day. I work with 21 children in the 1st grade classroom. When I arrived that morning, a big balloon shaped as a heart that said "I love you" all over it was tied to my chair. Then Foster Grandparent Elizabeth Sands, who also works at Paddock, and I went to the teacher's lounge to look at a cake especially made for us. All the children gave me cards they had made, even the toddlers! Throughout the day I got more cards, hugs, and kisses from different classes. Before the children left, a book was donated in my name to the library about President Barack Obama's life. It was a touching moment and my tears were flowing. A book was also donated in Elizabeth Sands name. In the afternoon, I also received flowers for being a good foster grandmother. I had a really full day of pleasure! Thanks to the wonderful Foster Grandparent Program which I have enjoyed being a part of for two and a half years. I hope this program stays active for a long time!
